From the age of four the children are taught a pre-school ballet syllabus devised by the teachers. This allows the children to progress from Dancin’ Dots through to the Primary class level.
The pupils follow the Cecchetti ballet syllabus from Primary level to Advanced. This is a faculty of the I.S.T.D. (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) - one of the largest international dance teachers’ associations.
Most children take an examination once every 12-18 months and we work on syllabus as well as show and display work during this time. The teaching staff use their professional judgment and experience to decide when a child should be entered for an examination. At the same time, they need parental support to ensure that pupils do not miss any classes and that they are encouraged to practice at home. The Primary Exam is the first examination for the children and once they achieve this they can then progress on to another level.
